THE ARTS SOCIETY ELY

The Arts Society Ely

(Formerly: Ely Decorative and Fine Arts Society)

We are a friendly local society, enjoying all aspects of the arts. Our aim is to increase our knowledge and enjoyment of the decorative and visual arts and broaden our acquaintance with people of similar interests.

Our primary activity is our monthly lecture programme on a wide range of the arts, for example: jewellery, sculpture, painting, ceramics, music; in fact any and all decorative and fine arts.

The lectures are given by acclaimed experts in their field, and are free to members of The Arts Society Ely.

Each year we arrange several visits to places of cultural significance, usually by coach from Ely. These include buildings of architectural or historical interest, gardens, art galleries and museums, some of which may only be available for group bookings. Details of forthcoming visits can be found under 'Visits' on the website. The cost of these Visits is in addition to the Membership fee and is made clear on the booking form.

We are affiliated to The Arts Society, formerly The National Association of Decorative and Fine Arts Societies.

We meet usually at the Old Palace, Palace Green, Ely on the third Thursday of the month for nine months of the membership year. We don't meet in January, August or December.  The lecture starts at 7.30 p.m. and lasts about an hour. The doors are open at 7.00 p.m. Following the lecture is coffee and home made biscuits and a chance to chat.  Please feel free to bring a friend. We ask for a donation of £7.00 from those who are not members. We are very keen to recruit new committee members.

Please consider joining the Committee which is for a limited period of 3 years. If you would be interested, please contact our Chairman, Constance Heald (01353.775391) or any members of the present Committee for further information
